# The missing layer between your website and AI

AI agents are trying to read your website right now. They're getting messy HTML, nav menus,
cookie banners, and tracking scripts instead of your actual content. Getmd.ai fixes that.

## The problem

Large language models, AI search engines, and autonomous agents are rapidly becoming
the primary way people discover and consume information online. But there's a fundamental
mismatch: your website was built for browsers, not for AI.

When an AI agent visits your site, it doesn't see your beautifully designed page. It
sees thousands of lines of nested HTML — navigation markup, tracking pixels, form widgets,
modal dialogs, and somewhere buried in the middle, your actual content. The result?
AI systems either misunderstand your content, waste tokens on junk, or skip your site entirely.

The llms.txt standard was proposed as a solution — a structured file that tells AI agents
what content matters on your site. But there was no easy way to host one, keep it updated,
or actually serve the clean markdown that AI agents need.

Until now, there was simply nothing available to solve this properly.

### We convert at the edge

When an AI agent requests a page, our edge workers fetch the HTML from your origin, strip the CMS chrome (nav, footer, scripts, tracking), and convert it to markdown with YAML frontmatter including token counts and metadata.

### Add discovery tags (optional)

Paste a small code snippet into your CMS. This adds a link tag that tells AI crawlers your markdown endpoint exists. They find and consume your content automatically.

## Our story

Getmd.ai was born out of a real problem we faced at  [MO Agency](https://www.mo.agency/),
a digital agency based in South Africa. We build and manage websites for our clients
across HubSpot, WordPress, and other platforms — and we kept running into the same issue.

AI agents were visiting our clients' sites and getting terrible results. The HTML was full
of CMS-specific markup, nested divs, tracking scripts, and template chrome. AI systems
were either misinterpreting the content or burning through tokens on noise. And there was
no clean way to serve them what they actually needed: the content.

So we built a solution for our own clients. An edge worker that intercepts AI requests,
fetches the original HTML, strips the junk, and serves clean markdown. It worked remarkably
well. We added llms.txt hosting, analytics, and CMS-specific conversion profiles.

When we looked for existing products that did this, we found nothing. There were markdown
conversion libraries, sure. But no end-to-end platform that handled the hosting, caching,
discovery, analytics, and CMS-specific conversion in one place.

We realised that if we needed this for our clients, thousands of other websites needed it too.
So we turned it into Getmd.ai — a SaaS product that any website owner can set up in minutes.
